Why Tent Draping Is the Most Underrated Item in Party Rentals (And Why Ours Comes With Free Chandeliers)

The truth about what separates events that look like venues from events that look like backyard setups — and it's not what most people think.

Show someone two photos. In the first, a white party tent with folding tables, metal poles showing, and a flat canvas ceiling. In the second, the exact same tent — same size, same location — but with sweeping fabric draped along the ceiling and walls, chandeliers hanging down the center line, and warm amber light washing over everything.

The tent in photo two looks like it costs three times as much. It doesn't. The structure is identical. The only difference is what's on the inside of the frame. That's what draping does, and it's why experienced event planners treat it as non-negotiable — not as an upgrade.

What Tent Draping Actually Is (and Why the Default Looks Wrong)

A party tent is, at its core, a metal frame covered in white vinyl. That frame has vertical poles, horizontal beams, and diagonal supports. When you set up a tent and look up, you see all of it — an exposed grid of metal and fabric that reads more "construction zone" than "event venue."

Tent draping covers that frame with fabric. It runs along the ceiling in swags and pleats, concealing the poles and creating a continuous fabric surface overhead. Done right, it makes the inside of a tent feel completely different — warmer, intentional, event-worthy. Done with chandeliers, it feels like a venue.

Why chandeliers are included at no extra cost

We include chandelier lighting with every draping package because the two elements only work together. Draping without light looks flat and heavy. Chandeliers without draping look disconnected, hanging off bare metal poles. Together, the fabric catches and diffuses the light — creating the warm, enveloping ceiling effect that photographs beautifully and makes guests feel like they're at somewhere special.

How We Price It (The Per-10-Foot Model)

Draping is priced per 10 linear feet of tent length because that's how tent frames are built — in 10-foot bays. A 20×40 tent has four 10-foot bays along its 40-foot length. To fully drape that tent from end to end, you need 4 sections. A 20×60 needs 6 sections.

We match the draping SKU to your tent series automatically, because tent frame widths differ between series — a 10/20-series draping section literally doesn't fit on a 30-series frame. When you add a tent to your cart, the correct draping series is selected for you, and the quantity is calculated based on your tent length. This is intentional — we've seen what happens when someone orders the wrong draping for their frame and has to scramble the morning of the event.

10/20-Series Draping

Sized for our 10ft and 20ft-wide tents. Priced at $185 per 10-ft section. A standard 20×40 tent needs 4 sections ($740 package pricing). Transforms small to mid-size backyard events into polished setups.

30-Series Draping

Sized for our 30ft-wide tents. The wider frame requires more fabric per section and a different rigging approach. Priced at $295 per 10-ft section. A 30×60 tent needs 6 sections — the ceiling result in this series is genuinely stunning.

Sized for our 40ft-wide tents. The ceiling height in a 40-series tent gives chandeliers room to hang properly without feeling low. Priced at $415 per 10-ft section. This is the series that reliably produces the "wow" moment guests talk about.

60-Series Draping

Sized for our commercial 60ft-wide tents. Requires specialized rigging and our professional installation team. Priced at $595 per 10-ft section. For galas, weddings, and corporate events at this scale, the draping is never a question — it's in every quote.

Package Pricing: When Draping Gets Cheaper

If you're renting a tent, tables, and chairs together, all three items (plus draping and most other items) qualify for our package pricing — a 10% discount across the board. This is the most common setup for a complete outdoor event, and the discount makes adding draping more accessible than most people expect when they see the per-section rate in isolation.

The Day-Of Experience: What Professional Installation Means

Tent draping is not a DIY product. The fabric has to be rigged to the frame under tension so it holds its shape across the full ceiling. Chandeliers have to be wired and suspended at the right height — not so low that tall guests hit them, not so high that the light effect is lost. Our crew handles all of this during setup, and takes it all down during breakdown. You don't touch it. You just walk in the morning of your event and the ceiling is done.
